A lot has been going on with rider Pete Zernik in the last year. He and girlfriend Vanessa had a beautiful baby boy Dylan Z. Zernik. Now that Dylan is quickly growing up fast Pete is getting back on the track training at Camp Far West this weekend the salt springs res next week for rd 1-2 DJSA then off to Parker the following weekend for IJSBA rd 1-2. The biggie I’m really looking forward to is the much anticipated Liquid Militia Team weekend. So I’m pretty stacked solid for the next 2 months with events and traveling. Looking forward to great year and lot’s of new opportunities.

Pete Zernik News
Liquid Militia Team rider Pete Zernik and Ian Roberts re cap from the DJSA Outlaw Awards for the 2012 season. Both riders ranking in the top 5 of the classes they compete in. Well done guy’s!!
I took 1st place GP ,1st place 850 fast stand for the season and 3rd in total high points out of all stand up classes.
Pete Zernik Rider Profile
I finished second in 550 open, third in 850 expert open and fourth in expert gp. Here are all the trophy’s I received from his series.
When? and Where? Sept. 29 – Oct. 7, Crazy Horse Campgrounds, Lake Havasu City, AZ
We have thought long and hard about doing this event for 2012. And we have come to the conclusion that we are not going to have a booth this year. We have been doing this event for the past 6 years. We have decided to take a break from all the hustle and bustle for 2012.
Why? because we get so wrapped up in our booth that we don’t seem to have any time to hang out with our team riders and actually watch them race. So we want to use this year to focus 100% on our team riders and provide them the maximum amount of support we can offer.
We are going to work on something totally new and exciting for 2013. We we return to the World Finals, and when we do we will have a totally different booth set up and a full new product range to show off.
We know a lot of people will be bummed out not to see the legit Liquid Militia Booth this year but no worries we will still be attending so if you see us walking around we will actually have more time to chat with everyone. We are proud to announce that we have teamed up with Hydro-Turf , McGraw Insurance and ProRider Watercraft Magazine for the 2012 Ride and Grind World Finals Party at Kokomos. All the info is shown on this flyer below \/ We all have a few “SPECIAL” things planned for this party night so don’t be lame and miss out.
If anything changes or comes up we will update it right here on this post so check back for any updates.
WITH THAT BEING SAID WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE FOLLOWING LIQUID MILITIA TEAM RIDERS WILL BE COMPETING AT THE WORLD FINALS THIS YEAR:
Ian Roberts Racing Pro Ski GP and Open.
Brock Austin Pro am Ski Stock and Expert Limited.
Derek Fuoco Pro R/A Stock and Expert R/A Stock.
Tanner Thomas Amateur Freestyle
For more information on the 2012 IJSBA World Finals please visit the official web site for this event by clicking on this link.
Liquid Militia would like to thank Hydro Turf for making our trip a success having good people around us is always a plus. We would also like to thank Kyle at DASA for the ride to the airport legit. We would like to also thank Ronny & Ratti from ProRider Watercraft Magazine just for being super cool peeps to hang with and for keeping the sport going. Last but definitely not least we would like to thank all our team riders who attended this event we would not have gone if it was not for you guy’s Lot’s more pics and a sick ass VIDEO is still to come….
Zack Bright killing it this year at the Surf Slam. Zack took 2nd place in Pro Freeride against Freeride legend Taylor Curtis, When we asked zack about the contest conditions he said. “It’s so hard to ride, if something comes up, then you hit it. Going out there with a plan of attack is just not happening, at all.” With this slam win it puts Zack sitting in second place in the IFWA (International Freeride Watercraft Association) Would Tour in Points with one more stop to go BRAZIL!!
A few more memorable moments from Zack who’s always pushing the envelope. Zack kinda landed a backflip re-entry, the crowd was pumped!! “I tried a double backflip in the big air and went one and a half, and I stomped 2 flat spin 360 re-entrys on Monday. My progression keeps going.”
Mark Gomez took 5th place in Pro Freeride & 2nd in the Pro Ski Motosurf Race. Mark holding it down competing in all three events at the slam. 1. Freeride 2. Motosurf and 3. Big air keeping up with his tipple threat theme he has going on. We asked Mark how hard was it to compete in all three events “Well that’s what I like to do, I like to be involved in as much opportunity as possible why not? My #1 is Freeride I just cant get enough of it, but if there is a chance to do a motosurf race i’m in. All events I competed in the conditions were nasty but you just power threw it and make things happen.”
Cuong Son took 9th place in Pro Freeride. That’s a few notches up from last year. Cuong had some killer runs getting some huge air. When asked about the size of the waves Cuong had this to say “Some set’s in the back were huge you just have to time it right and go for it. I had a lot of fun and am happy with myself.”
Stanton High took 17th place in Pro Freeride. Stanton was on a fresh new Krash hull going into the slam. New ski plus not a lot of practice on the new hull sometimes does not let you perform to the level you know you are at. But on the upside Stanton had a blast and is looking forward to dialing in his new ski with all the classic Stanton style he brings. When we asked him how he felt on his new hull he said “I love it, it’s a great hull, looking forward to seeing what new things I can do on it.”
Tanner Thomas took 5th place in Amateur Freeride. Tanner had a lot better luck this year than last year, no rescue hook through the hand and his ski did not get lost forever into the Pacific. Tanner’s fully back in action, and riding solid. When we asked what him what he had to say about the surf he said, “The surf’s so powerful its unbelievable, I’m happy with what i did all around.“
Pete Zernik took 6th place in the Pro Ski Motosurf race. Just after his last moto we asked Pete how it went and he said, “It was just jump after jump, gopro falling off here, gopro falling off there, I dont know where I ended up.“
I took 3rd in expert limited and 7th in GP.
This location is by far on of the sickest places for races.
The altitude took this race weekend to a whole different level. It’s a tuner racer race, if your fast here you’ll be faster almost anywhere else.
Everyone including my boats lost at least 20% of the power and I did not figure out my boat until Sunday. I had a blast thanks for all the support to all my sponsors.

Rider Pete Zernik wanted us to make him so new race numbers for his ski, trailer, and truck.
As you can see this is what he wanted and what we delivered.
We finished as much as we could but in the end the cracked exhaust manifold shut us down and I found myself floating in between the 2nd and 3rd turn waiting for a tow in.
I think preparing mentally was the greatest challenge. There’s a series of them actually, pit crew needs, gear, gas, boat. Get the truck, get the trailer, get on the road….Getting everything prepared and ready after a 600 mile journey down to Havasu after working all night. Yeah as Shawn says ‘The Ride After The Ride’. I get it!
That Mark Hahn race track was amazingly flat and fast. Our team ‘Mateo and I’ set the fastest lap on a stand up @ 11.1min for 10 miles… (I’m pretty sure it was my lap).
Good energy lots of people and good competition.
Thank You to all my Sponsors. Liquid Militia most of all; and Mateo for letting me Rip on his ski!
PETE ZERNIK 300
Pete Zernik, Liquid Militia Team Rider, 3rd year running on the teams! He has partnered up with Mateo Juarez on a Hydrospace Stand Up. (Hydrosaki)
Team Name: Juarez and Zernik
Peter Zernik has some mileage on the Mark Hahn back through the years, 2 years ago he finished in second place in the stand up division.
Zernik’s Sponsors: Liquid Militia, Hydro turf, Kommander Ind., Slippery, Synergyn Oil, Oneal, OGIO, Fly.
LM Let’s check out some houghts running into the final days of preparation from Pete. When the water wakes up as it often does across the lake what’s key for you?
PZ ‘If it’s rough heading down that long back stretch, to stay on top of the Chop and just keep the throttle pinned, but the boat steady’. He says.
LM What will your greatest challenge be?
PZ Getting in and out of the Pits is always as important as racing. You can become good on the track but a lot can come undone in the pits.
LM What have you been doing to train for the Hahn?
PZ I’ve been riding every chance I get for months now. Sleeping and eating right too.
LM What do you expect to deliver?
PZ A KICK ASS VICTORY WITH A SWEET PARTY AFTER!
Thank you Shawn for all the support. LM for Life
Pete Zernik Rider Profile
Mateo Juarez 300
I am Mateo Juarez, Liquid Militia Team Rider.
Competing at the Mark Hahn Hot Products 300 Memorial PWC Race this coming Saturday. I have teamed up with fellow Liquid Militia Team Rider Pete Zernik, sharing our Race boat # 89, in the Stand Up Open
Class. We’re piloting a Hydrospace GP. Should be a perfect boat for Havasu waters.
My current sponsors are: Liquid militia, Hydroturf, Techone, Queen Racing, ProWaterCraft.com, and KMG Racing.
LM Heading into the Hahn what are your thoughts on race strategy?
MJ I’m feeling very confident that between Pete and myself we should have the fastest ski competing in our class and our experience racing will make us hard to beat.
LM What will your greatest challenge be?
MJ Fuel management! Most competitors will be running a slower ski that will get better gas mileage and result in fewer pit stops. Testing has shown that we should be able to make the same amount of laps as the slower ski’s as long as we manage the throttle modulation during the race.
LM Tell us about your Pit Crew:
MJ Our crew will be a mixture of people from Havasu and Vegas that are frieds of mine that understand racing.
LM How have you been training?
MJ Run, run, run. I going into this race the same way I would go into a closed course race with a slightly different training routine. I am focusing on endurance more than my max heart rate and conditioning my lower back and legs with lighter weights and longer reps.
LM What do you expect to deliver?
MJ I am setting very high goals for my racing this season starting with the Mark Hahn event and I’m not looking to just win but to dominate. We will be aggressive but will also let the race come to us. So in other words I am coming to win.
Thank you guys at Liquid Militia for all your support, and I’ll thank my pit crew in advance!
