LM- Where are you going?
GC- Cabo, for Spring Break.
LM- Who are you going with?
GC- Best friends (first two are kiters)- Scott Edwards, Ella Johnson, Britni Heter, Katie Lovelace
LM- What do you plan to do on this trip (list everything)?
GC- Kiteboard, SUP, Snorkle, Jet ski, scuba, surf, eat incredible mexican food, drink cervezas
LM- How much kiting do you plan on getting in?
GC- Two-Three days
LM- Do you think you will have good wind?
GC- First day was blowing 15-17mph right off of the porch. We are going to drive to Los Barilles or La Ventana for some good guaranteed kiting.
LM- Have you ever been there before and had an opportunity to Kiteboard there before?
GC- Nope first time.
LM- What are you most looking forward to doing on this trip?
GC- Getting a taste of the luxury life. I am lucky enough to stay at an incredible house on the beach with incredible service. Not to mention the wind is a 100yrds away.
LM- Is there a big Kiteboarding Scene there?
GC- Definitely in La Ventana and Los Barilles. Cabo has its times and spots but most people go to La Ventana or Los Barilles as their kiteboarding destination.
LM- What’s the one thing you can’t wait to do on this trip?
GC- Honestly, my life has been so busy the past few months I am most excited not to have any plans at all. Going wherever the wind blows me is gonna make me totally happy.
LM- What’s the one thing you are going to miss while you are gone, from back home?
GC- I wish I could bring all of my good friends here to share this experience with me.
LM- Drink of choice while on vacation?
GC- The Javier; (Bartender’s secret recipe)
LM- Will you have any other Kiteboarding hommies with you to go kiting with?

LM- What do you think the weather will be like?
GC- Absolutely gorgeous 75-82F Sunny skies.
LM- What Kiteboard set up did you bring with you?
GC- I brought my Cab Custom w/ boots and my strapped Epic droid. I also brought my 8m and 11m Epic Judges

GRANT COOK – KITEBOARDER – PISMO, CA
Liquid Militia Clothing is proud to announce a new addition to our Kiteboarding team INTRODUCING Grant Cook from Pismo, CA. Here is a story on the beginning of Grant getting started in this scene.
Grant Cook checked out a poster that drew his interest. It was posted on a wall in a local Rio Vista shop. It was a kiteboarder in a frozen moment of airtime. The color image stayed with him. It’s one of those iconic life decisions we all come to. That crossroad of interest magnified into a curious pursuit.
A year later at Pismo Pier he watched two kiteboarders in action. He left the beach and cruised into a local kiteboarding store. He purchased his first Kiteboard set up. Three years later his family moved closer to the coast and Grant’s initial interest turned into a passionate motivation.
He began networking with other Kiteboarders, gathering tips and learning the basics ‘gear-kite-fly’ stage of any beginner’s exploration. These formative years eventually became dedicated seasons. Not a surprising transition when you review his educational selection: Aerospace Engineering.
Grant is a member of the Central Coast CKA, California’s premiere collegiate kiteboarding club. The tightknit group plans local sessions in the San Louis Obispo coastline, where wind is usually a guaranteed medium blowing from the Pacific Ocean. If the wind isn’t blowing, kite videos, gatherings and study times are part of what passes the time. The CKA active members support one another by sharing ideas and training evolutions. Most importantly, it’s the challenge of one’s capabilities against the elements of wind, water and speed.

College is what motivates Grant, but Kiteboarding literally drives him. Scholastic achievement requires a focused approach to success through a practical approach of time management. All work and no play doesn’t pay off for balancing the pressure of deadlines and exams. Naturally, Grant takes a methodical approach exploring the unknown potentials of kiteboarding in the surf zone. The best part is promoting the sport by participating on a local level.
The freedom given by a kite driven by wind, a free resource, blended with the power of the ocean, equals surf riding sessions that are a stress reliever. Grant gets it, challenging his equipment and tuning his capabilities one session at a time.
